Tailored vs Jobscan: a scanner, or a system
Jobscan is the most established ATS match-rate tool and its LinkedIn optimiser is a genuine differentiator. We do the scan too, then keep going — proposing the edits, guarding them, tracking the versions and preparing the interview. Here's the honest comparison.

When you should choose Jobscan
Jobscan's LinkedIn optimiser has no equivalent here. If your search depends on recruiters finding you rather than you finding postings — which is true for a lot of senior and technical roles — that feature alone may decide it. We have nothing to offer on profile optimisation today.
They have also been doing ATS matching longer than almost anyone, and their reports go deep on formatting flags and parsing issues. If you want a forensic read on why a specific resume failed a specific ATS, that depth is real.
Their pricing suits a short, intense search: pay for a month or a quarter, run a lot of scans, cancel. If that is your shape, a subscription is the right instrument.
When you should choose Tailored
When you want the gap closed, not just measured. Jobscan tells you which keywords are missing. Smart Tailoring proposes the actual sentences, in your own voice, against the actual bullet — and each one is checked by a deterministic guard for fabricated dates, metrics and employers before it reaches you. Knowing you're missing 'stakeholder management' is the easy half.
When you're running a long search rather than a sprint. Our free tier does not cap the analysis: match score, bullet scoring, the heatmap and interview prep stay free however many times you run them. The credits buy generation and tailoring, and $9 of them never expires.
When you want the trail. Every save snapshots the previous version and the diff viewer shows what changed, so six weeks in you can still answer which version went to which employer.
Frequently asked
- Is Jobscan's match rate the same as your match score?
- They measure the same thing — how well a CV lines up with a posting — and both surface matched and missing keywords. The difference is what happens next: we generate the proposed edits and guard them against fabrication, rather than handing you a list to act on yourself.
- Do you optimise LinkedIn profiles?
- No. That is Jobscan's clearest advantage over us right now and we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise.
- How much does the analysis cost here?
- Nothing. The match score, per-bullet impact scoring, the recruiter heatmap and interview prep are free for every account, unlimited. Credits are only spent on AI generation and Smart Tailoring.
- Is the AI safe with my employment history?
- Deterministic guards check every proposal for fabricated dates, fabricated metrics, fabricated company names, stale text and no-op edits before any suggestion is shown. A proposal that invents a number is filtered out rather than presented for you to catch.
